Gillen has served as Head of the Western Kansas Agricultural Research Centers since 2006.  Before coming to WKARC, Gillen was on the faculty at Oklahoma State University and a Range Scientist with the USDA-Agricultural Research Service.  His research focused on the ecology and management of forage-livestock production systems.  He is a native of southwest Kansas.
